2011 US Surf Open

Last weekend McBoom News traveled to Huntington Beach, CA, along with thousands of other beach-goers around the area, to be part of the chaos that takes place every year known as the US Surf Open. Sure, the name sounds like just another surf competition, but like my mother always told me "don't judge a book by its cover". The week long event helps determine the qualifiers for the ASP World Tour, but is also jammed packed with festivities and other competitions such as BMXing, skateboarding, and street art. To top it off the surfing extravaganza throws on a series of concerts at the end of the week which consist of well known bands such as Jimmy Eat World and MGMT. After a long week of competing Florida's Kelly Slater walked away with the trophy and was crowned winner of this marvelous summer event. Be sure to check out brief highlights captured above, as well as the photo moments found below. Ride on Internet Surfers.
